Our judges were Jeanne Ramirez and Sally Elkins who did a fabulous job plotting tracks. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The temps were in the 50’s and sunny. The wind did pick up on Test Day but didn’t seem to affect the teams.

The test had 3 TD’s and 3 TDX’s. Thank you, exhibitors, for supporting our test.

TD Track 1 was an Otterhound, Dog. This team started strong and stayed that way thru the whole track, even when they got tangled around a sign post and took a moment to sniff hay bales in the field. They found the glove with no problem!

CONGRATULATIONS! Riverrun QCumber Power On, RN and now TD! Owned and handled by Dian Quist.

TD Track 2 was a Dachshund, Dog. This team started strong but unfortunately turned too soon and was whistled. This handler is new to the sport of tracking. We see a lot of potential for this handler in the future. I know they will pass soon.

TD Track 3 was a Dachshund, Dog. This team started strong but unfortunately went the wrong way at the first turn and was whistled. This handler was the same for TD2.

TDX Track 1 was a Dalmatian, Bitch. This team got off in the wrong direction at the start and was whistled. I talked to the handler later and he said he saw a lot of good things from his dog while she was tracking as they finished.

TDX Track 2 was a German Shepherd Dog, Dog. This team started strong and made it thru their first set of cross tracks to their second corner and worked up to where people were standing. They continued off track to hear the whistle. I loved watching this dog work! He was even checking the bark on the trees for scent. I did not get to talk to his handler afterwards, but, was told they did a nice job finishing their track.

TDX Track 3 was a German Pincher, Bitch. This team proved that it takes patience and trust to do tracking. This little girl was quartering at the start which looked a little like crittering to us. The handler knew her dog and stood her ground and made it thru the first leg, across a street, past the first set of cross tracks to find the first article. They then went into some woods and I thought we would be hearing a whistle, but instead we saw them work their way back. They did end up going off track to the whistle. The handler said they finished nicely and strong at the end.

Afterward we all went back to the Resource Center and enjoyed each other’s company and stories. This is why I thoroughly enjoy the sport of tracking!

All of the teams were wonderful to watch. I know there will be titles for them real soon.

I would like to thank Jan Hague for taking such good care of our judges and helping with hospitality.

Barb Ihle was in charge of hospitality. The food was truly amazing! Sheryl Bradbury, Sue Volkmer, Jan Hague and myself donated food.

Our judges were Jane Jonas and Jeff Whitsitt who did a fabulous job plotting tracks. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The temps were in the 50’s, partly sunny and a slight breeze on test day.

The test had 1 TD and 3 TDX’s. We did have 5 TDX’s, but, 2 of them passed in KC the weekend before. Congratulations to those teams!

TD Track 1 was a Golden Retriever, bitch. She had a nice start and continued very strong checked the corners then found the glove and PASSED! CONGRATULATIONS! Lookout’s Monkey Love and now TD. Owned by Jerry and Karen Lewis. Jerry has judged at our test many times and the last dog he ran was his wife’s dog when she broke her arm. It was wonderful to have Jerry back!

TDX Track 1 was a Boxer, dog. This dog got distracted by some squirrels playing across the road at the start. He paralleled the first leg and looked like they were going to go off before the first turn. They worked their way back and started down the second leg where he was distracted and went off course. Another unfortunate thing for them was when they were working their track after the whistle, they came upon a skunk and did get sprayed. From now on I will have something on hand at our test for this if it ever happens again. I felt so bad that there wasn’t more we could do. The handler did say she would try our venue again.

TDX Track 2 was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, dog. He started very confidently. The second leg had a road crossing then a hill with a turn. He took a while to make the turn then up the hill he went. Unfortunately, he decided to head for a road and got whistled. I would like to thank this team for supporting our test. This team had already got their CT title! Congratulations!!!! When it looked like our test was not going to fill, she decided to enter to help support the entry.

TDX Track 3 was an Irish Terrier, dog. He started well made the first turn and started up the second leg. While they were working the turn and second leg a deer popped out, I’m guessing it was bedded down, and looped around them and out. The dog did decide after a lot of working to follow the deer scent. The team did do a nice job once back on track.

Afterward we all went back to the Resource Center and enjoyed each other’s company and stories. This is why I thoroughly enjoy the sport of tracking!

All of the teams were wonderful to watch. I know there will be titles for them real soon.

The Nebraska Kennel Club held their tracking test November 11, 2012 at Chalco Hills Recreation Area in Omaha, NE.  Our judges were Jerry Lewis and Becky Johnson who did a fabulous job plotting tracks considering the temperature change we had over the weekend.

The test filled with 2 TD’s and 5 TDX’s.  The day was very cold and windy.

TD1 Was a German Shephard, bitch.  She had a beautiful start and strong first 3 legs.  She indicated her 3rd turn but decided to go straight then getting the whistle.  Once back on, she did great. TD2 Was a Vizsla, male who wasn’t able to make it past the first leg.

TDX1 Was a Border Collie, male.  This dog started very confidently and was strong until I lost sight of them.  They made it past the cross tracks and got the first article.  They ended up going off on the 4th leg.  When put back on they finished nicely. TDX2 Was a Wired Haired Pointing Griffon, male.  He started well but went the wrong way at the turn.  I did not hear how the team did after they restarted.  TDX3 Was a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, bitch.  This little girl started very strong, did a fine job with her first turn, cross track and road crossing.  She ended up going off on the second turn.  Once back on they finished nicely. TDX4 Was a Boxer bitch.  She started nicely with some checking then made her first turn and worked the tree line and decided the track went thru.  Once on the other side, she decided to go off.  Once back on she finished nicely. TDX5 Was a Golden Retriever, male.  This was our passing team of the day!  This team seemed to track very confidently with a few checks along the way.  It wasn’t until the last leg that they got off and was able to work their way back to find that oh so magical final glove!  Whew!!!!  They sure had us gallery folks on edge.  We knew it was in the bag once we saw the boy’s “Happy Tail” as they worked their way back.  Presenting: Cima’s It’s Time to Catch a Wave, TD and now TDX and his proud owner Ryan Anderson.

Afterward we all went back to the Resource Center and enjoyed each other’s company and stories.  This is why I thoroughly enjoy the sport of tracking!
All of the teams were wonderful to watch.  I know there will be titles for them real soon.
